Quality Policy

It is the established policy of Hinton, Perry & Davenhill Ltd and the Ketley Brick Co Ltd at Dreadnought Works to:

·            Provide its customers with pavers, clay building bricks and clay roofing tiles which are fit for their intended use and which conform to the company’s and British Standard Specifications, BS EN 1344, BS EN 771 and BS EN 1304.

·            Develop the company’s position as a specialist manufacturer of plain clay roofing tiles, and engineering bricks, specials and pavers.

Relevant Test Information

Current freeze thaw test standards (test Method D) require plain clay tiles to withstand at least 100 freeze/thaw cycles.  This standard is soon to rise to 150 cycles (test Method E).  However, Dreadnought Tiles will withstand in excess of 400 freeze thaw cycles during testing.

We know from experience that Dreadnought Tiles last for in excess of 100 years.  In fact there are many cases where second hand Dreadnought Tiles sell for more than new tiles.

Poor performance in freeze/thaw test are an indication of the potential for the delamination of clay roof tiles over time, as moisture held within the pores of the tiles expands when frozen.
