Case Study - a Cotswold self build
Clay Roof Tile :Dreadnought's Rustic brown antique tiles
Architect: Nick Arthur - Tyack Architects
This attractive self build lies in a conservation area in a Gloucestershire village. It was designed in a traditional Arts and Crafts style by Tyack Architects to fit in with the existing houses in its immediate surroundings. Nick Arthur from Tyack has used Dreadnought Tiles before and knew that they would be well received by the local planners at Cotswold District Council.
The rich Brown Antique colour of the roof tiles is set off by the Cotswold stone of the main house and blends well with the Northcot handmade brick of the rear elevation. The roof here is a dominant feature of the property with elegant details, and the character of the rustic roof tile helps to give the house an already established look, like it has already been there for many years. The use of Dreadnought’s dry fix ridge system and tile vents provide discreet ventilation in the roofspace without interfering with the aesthetics of the tiles.
